Carleton to Governor William Paca. New York. General Washington has conveyed copy of letter written to him by Paca, dated 21 February last, which states the conduct of certain [British] barges and armed vessels in Chesapeake Bay. In particular that their crews land on the shores committing devestations of various sorts so it has been necessary to refer to the law officers there. He awaits their report to take the necessary measures and make the fullest communication of his purposes. In the meantime he is on the point of sending a flag to Dobb's Ferry on other concerns.
