Full Description:
Draft of a letter, not signed or addressed (noted that it is ) presumably from Sir Guy Carleton. New York. Encloses a letter addressed to His Grace by Captain Morse, Chief Engineer in favour of Mr Castleman, recommending him to be brought into the Corps of Engineers. Speaks of his high esteem for Captain Morse. Had recommended him for the brevet rank of Major to the Commander-in-Chief but has received no notice of the event. Awaits with impatience the arrival of letters from England and hopes to receive the permission to return home which was repeatedly asked for, when he will pay his respects to His Grace in person.
