Full Description:
Andrew Elliot to Maurice Morgann. Superintendent's Office, New York. Acknowledges previous letter enclosing memorial of Robert McCulloh. As the granting a license for the exportation of a particular cargo may create murmers, suggests that the memorialists may be authorised to inform at the sales that the Commander-in-Chief has ordered the superintendent to admit of a general exportation of tar until further orders. All may thus avail themselves of the indulgence or may protest against it. Endorsed, reporting on Robert McCullogh's memorial 'in behalf of the Loyalists on the River St. John's' who had shipped a cargo of tar to this port.
