Full Description:
John MacKenzie to Carleton. New York. Petition. Representing that his father Daniel was a sergeant in the 59th Regiment serving twenty years. On his discharge was employed in the Barrackmaster-General's service at Boston, and at New York as woodyard keeper until the day of his death on the '17th instant'. Has left a widow and three children, of which the petitioner at sixteen years of age is the eldest. Also added to the document are a copy of a certificate from Lieutenant-Colonel Otho Hamilton and three other officers, dated Boston 15 December 1775, and a certificate by Joseph Chew, 23 March 1783. Noted as having been referred to the Commissary-General, 4 April 1783.
