Full Description:
Governor Archibald Campbell to Carleton. Spanish Town. Agreeable to directions, has countermanded the orders given to certain merchants in this island in consequence of General Leslie's request to forward without loss of time a supply of rum to the forces at New York. The transports for carrying the rum purchased by Mr Champion are now loading and will proceed the moment they are ready. Has received from Monsieur Belcombe, Governor of Hispanola, authentic intelligence of a general peace, also by public prints from London that the ratifications were actually exchanged 3 February. Although no official communication of this event has taken place, Admiral Rowley and he have agreed for their parts that all hostilities with the belligerent powers shall cease 3 April next.
