Full Description:
[Carleton] to Brigadier-General Archibald McArthur. New York. Acknowledges receipt of previous letters. Discussion includes the approval of what McArthur has done respecting delivery of rations to refugees, and sending six months provisions and more if required. Not sending the 3rd Battalion of the 60th Regiment to St Augustine owing to the expense of lodging and provisions, and having written tothe Governor recommending forming the militia. What should be done about Indian affairs, and the bat and forage money to be paid to the officers. Encloses newspaper showing the prospect of a peace but warning him to be on his guard.
