Full Description:
[Carleton] to Major-General Robert Howe. New York. Acknowledges his letter of 25 March 1783 delivered by Mr Livingston and would have been pleased to assist but the present occasion seems to give little possibility. The case stated appears to be a breach of private trust and Howe may be sure that the perpetrators shall not find asylum in New York; Mr Livingston will be given all aid and protection in Carleton's power.
