Full Description:
Carleton to Major William Anstruther. New York. Is surprised that the paymaster of the Garrison Battalion at Bermuda has drawn on Mr Morgann for $900 on account of subsistence of troops under Anstruther's command. Whatever expenses may result from the bill being protested must be borne by the persons who have acted so improperly. He will not order such bills to be paid. There being no need for a barrack master at Bermuda that appointment is to be discontinued and he is to deliver all stores to the assistant commissary. The barrack master's accounts are to be strictly examined and certified and he is to be ordered to Head Quarters so that his conduct can be investigated. The Assistant Commissary-General is to draw bills for the amount certified on T. A. Coffin. Impatiently awaits the return of Lieutenant Slack so as to make arrangements for the security and benefit of Bermuda.
