Full Description:
Thomas Lynch to Colonel de Lancey. Duke Street. Informs him of the death the previous night of Ensign Dowling of the 22nd. Regiment. Hopes his [Lynch's] sons will now be provided for as they are the oldest volunteers in the army and in that regiment. Refers to his great losses in real and personal property and expects to lose £5,000 of debts owing to him. Begs him either to lay the letter before Carleton or mention its purport to him. Having lived all his life in affluence, it is hard to be deprived of that care his age demands.
