Full Description:
Carleton to Lieutenant-General de Riedesel. New York. Assures him of his esteem and regard and makes his compliments to Madame Riedesel. The preliminaries of a general peace signed and ratified at Paris will lead to changes in the situation of military men. Without waiting these events has solicited leave of absence and daily expects the arrival of his successor on whom he shall most glady devolve the command.
