Full Description:
Andrew Elliot to Morgann. Superintendent's Office. New York. Regrets the necessity of having to trouble Carleton but the number of applications made within the last twenty four hours obliges him to ask if it is Carleton's wish to extend exportation from this port, being as the merchants and inhabitants want to ship off almost every item of merchandise and produce to Great Britain, Ireland, British ports in America and the West Indies in order, they say, to save their property before the city is left by the British Army. Several merchants have also applied to send vessels with cargoes to Carolina and other ports belonging to the American States.
