Full Description:
Lieutenant-Colonel George Turnbull to Carleton. New York. Memorial as Lieutenant-Colonel Commandant of the New York Volunteers, for himself and the officers. Having been led to hope that the regiment was to be included among the first three to have had the honour of rank and half-pay, they do not know how to express their mortification on learning that younger regiments are to take their place with the British establishment and they themselves are to be reduced. Lists the actions in which the regiment was involved from Long Island on 27 August 1776 to the 'Eutaws' [Battle of Eutaw Springs, South Carolina] on 8 September 1781. Pray that their service be mentioned to the King and that mode of relief suggested, as they trust cannot fail to be followed with success.
