Full Description:
Archibald Campbell, formerly of Fairfield, Connecticut, to Carleton. Petition. As a result of his loyalty suffered loss and imprisonment; was finally forced to abandon everything and take refuge with his family within British lines where he has remained for three years. Prays relief. Not dated but at the foot is a certificate by John Sayre dated New York 14 April 1783. Referred to Mr Shoemaker 27 September. Note on the reverse by William Shoemaker that although the application is very late he recommends a payment of £10 York (sic) currency to enable him and his family (wife, two sons age 14 and 11, and a daughter age 13) to embark for Novia Scotia. Note 28 September 1783 order given to pay £10 New York currency.
