Full Description:
John Monier, late postmaster and contractors' agent at Albany, to Carleton. New York. Memorial. Has lost not only his landed property but also a genteel and easy living. Is desirous of going to England being old and having given twenty four years loyal service, asks he be recommended to the Government. If no provision can be made in England would ask for employment in Canada or elsewhere. Accompanied by copies by Monier of certificates by William Backhouse, Joseph Chew, Joseph Alliocke, Alexander White Sheriff Tryon 25 March 1782; by D. Mathews, Mayor; by William Franklyn [Franklin], Governor of New Jersey 27 March 1782; by Peter Paumier 27 March 1782 which is testified to by Brigadier-General Oliver De Lancey 27 March 1782.
