Full Description:
Captain-Lieutenant William Armstrong, 64th Regiment to Carleton. New York. Has just received a letter dated 24 March from Major Brereton commanding the 64th Regiment in Jamaica, notifying him of the death of Captain Dennis Kelly thereby occasioning a vacancy to which the Major cannot appoint him as he (Armstrong) is not on the spot. That at the time of Kelly's death he (Armstrong) was employed by Carleton in superintending the delivery of clothing and necessaries to the prisoners of war in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. Asks that in the circumstances his case be laid before the King in order that he be appointed to the vacancy.
