Full Description:
George Tetty Place to Alexander Innes. Petition. With great reluctance must presume to trouble him again; that on enlistment he was attested as sergeant and was shortly after made sergeant-major and was in that rank when he lost his sight completely; looks upon it as extremely hard to be reduced [to private] without any reason; raises the issue of donation overalls; could mention other grievances but it should seem too troublesome. Humbly hopes that Innes will order such measures as he thinks fit. On the reverse ' The Board of Inquiry to which this memorial is referred are of the opinion That the within named Sergeant Place should not have been invalided as a private, he having served near six years as sergeant in the Maryland Loyalist, during which time his conduct has merited the approbation of his Commanding Officer'. Signed by Colonel G. G. Ludlow, President, Flushing 16 April 1783.
