Full Description:
Brigadier-General Fox, Lieutenant-Colonel 1st. Staffordshire or 38th. Regiment, to Carleton. New York. Memorial. That Sergeant Thomas Matthews of said regiment has served twenty eight years, twenty of which as a sergeant, five a drill sergeant and four as Quarter Master Sergean; that from old age and a bad wound received at Bunker's Hill, he is unfit for service; recommends him for His Majesty's bounty,commonly called the King's letter.
