John Hill to Carleton. Brooklyn, New York. Memorial. Is Inspector of the Brooklyn Ferry and defends his character against complaints of a Mrs Mason whose husband, one of a gang of robbers who had been arrested because of him. For the truth of his assertions and general character and conduct, Hill begs Carleton to refer to Colonel Small, Captain Adie and David Mathews Esquire, Mayor of the City of New York
