Full Description:
40th Regiment. Account of 60 days subsistence for His Majesty's 40th Regiment of which Lieutenant-General Sir Robert Hamilton is Colonel, from 24 February to 24 April 1783. Listed under number of rank and amount. Totalling £838. Noted that five sergeants and 99 men at Halifax [Nova Scotia] had not been included in this amount. Signed by Lieutenant and Paymaster Alexander Gray, Shipman, and Major [ ? ]. Also shown, paid persuant to His Excellency Sir Guy Carleton's warrant on William Deane Poyntz Esquire, Deputy Paymaster-General', dated 17 March 1783.
