Full Description:
Maurice Spillard to Carleton. New York. Praying some compensation for the loss of his baggage destroyed at Camden [New Jersey] by order of Lord Rawdon at the evacuation of that post, whilst he himself was was confined in Hillsborough jail. Was seized and confined at Boston as a supposed spy and banished. Is an old servant of the Crown. Admiral Digby has granted him a passage to England in the first man of war. Endorsed, cannot be allowed any compensation for the loss of his baggage by order of the Commander-in-Chief and signed by Deputy-Adjutant-General Frederick MacKenzie, 26 April 1783.
