Full Description:
Colonel William Bayard to Major George Beckwith. New York. Discussion with regard to the enclosed notice which was served upon his tennant, Daniel Smith. That his estate at Hoobock has from the first of this rebellion to the present time, always been in the hands of the King's troops and his own, and that it has never been confiscated or sold as it says, within the province of New Jersey. Is surprised by the order and believes that the fellow Herring has done it to get the estate for himself. Begs that this matter is laid before the Commander-in-Chief.
