Full Description:
Stephen P Adye, Deputy Judge Advocate, New York to Major Mackenzie. Reports that recently Lieutenant-Colonel George Campbell, King's American Regiment complained to the President and members of the General Court Martial, before whom he is under trial for various charges brought against him by Captain Depeyster of the same regiment, on behalf of himself and others that Ensign Thomas, paymaster, had refused to pay him subsistence. Further, he was requested by Brigadier-General Fox, President, to lay the matter before the Commander-in-Chief. He accordingly visited headquarters for that purpose but found the Commander-in-Chief indisposed. He accordingly left the papers with Major Beckwith which have now been returned. In view of this the Court requests a decision by the Commander-in-Chief.
