Full Description:
Major William Amstruther to Carleton. Bermuda. Discusses there being no intelligence of the 'Mentor', and the fears that she will not be heard of in the wake of the late catastrophe of the sinking of the 'Cerberus'. Sends the late Barrack Master's accounts and vouchers by Lieutenant Sperrey who desires permission to go to England. Captains Kelley and Dalhunty wish to know if they can go to Ireland. The last provisions they received are very bad and that he has built a cistern to procure fresh water for the troops but it is a stand for want of 10,000 bricks. Hopes for help and begs an ensigncy for his son. Postscript notes that Ensign McWillie is the oldest ensign and quite deserving of a lieutenancy.
