Full Description:
Carleton to Robert R Livingston. New York. Has received the letter ofthe '12th instant' conveying various testimonies relative to the detention and loss of the schooner and flag of truce, 'Endeavor' in the harbour of Charleston. The transaction complained of is out of his power but he will transmit the letter to England where no doubt the proper discussion will be immediately made. Will also transmit to Rear-Admiral Digby a copy of those papers so that he too can take such steps as he sees necessary.
