Full Description:
Carleton to Thomas Townshend. New York. Number 78. Encloses a copy of a letter from the Secretary for Foreign Affairs conveying several papers concerning the supposed violation of a flag of truce, and the subsequent loss, plus a copy of his answer to Mr Livingston. Has also received a letter from the delegates of South Carolina conveying several documents relative to the embarkation of 'negroes' and other property claimed to belonging to the inhabitants of America on occasion of Charleston. Lastly enclosed are letters from Mr Cruden.
