Full Description:
Brook Watson, Commissary General's Office, New York to Lieutenant-Colonel De Lancey, Adjutant-General. Reports that a Captain Chads, agent of transports, having represented that transports recently arrived from Jamaica have a quantity of provisions on board unfit for use. The Commissary-General submits to the Commander-in-Chief the effectiveness of guarding against troops being sent to sea with damaged provisions. He suggests a survey of the provisions now on board transports at New York so that the Commissary of Provisions may receive an indication of what is now good but is in danger of spoiling, that the bad may be condemmed on board, and the transports completely stocked with good wholesome provisions.
