Full Description:
W Paine to Dr Nooth. Letter from Halifax acknowledging receipt of his letter of 1 June, but also stating refusal to sign the hospital accounts by Dr Lawler, as requested by General Paterson, on account that it gave Lawler 10s per day as surgeon of that corps when he had already been in receipt of 7s 6d per day as a mate in the General Hospital. Required assurance in doing his job and hoped that no offence had been given while doing it, but felt justified in his decision.
