Full Description:
General Sir Guy Carleton to Brigadier-General Archibald McArthur. A letter from New York acknowledging receipt of letters and giving approval for that done in respect of Lieutenant Angus McDonald, of the Corps of Guides and Pioneers. The claim by seven officers of the King's Rangers was to be referred to the Board of Officers. Lieutenant-Colonel Morse, chief engineer, to provide information relating to Lieutenant Wilson as the plan of the works he sent hadn't been received . There was no intention of the Provincial Corps under command being sent either tot he East or West Indies as at the proper time, they could go where they wanted, and if that was to be under Spanish or American rule instead of British, they were allowed to do so. The instructions on Indian affairs had been written prior to East Florida being ceded to Spain leading to the possibilty of Indians arriving in St Augustine, and to some incurred costs necessary to ensure public safety and security. The presents given to the Indian's should be viewed not from the officer's but from the King, as a mark of respect, and they should be made with ceremony, not every time, but especially when there were many together to give impression of regard. The Indian's demanding to go to the Bahama's should be allowed to do so but also stating the hazards and pitfalls to their way of life it would cause in them doing so. The provisions lost on the 'Eliza' would be replaced and the Commissary-General to provide for those moving to both England and Providence. Anything else required to be communicated as soon as possible to allow for a quick supply. Adjutant-General would pass on consent of the general court martial sentences of 19 May and approval of the militia's conduct, and also their reward. Lists of warrants sent to be passed to Board of Accounts for inspection.
