Full Description:
Lieutenant John White, commander of the 'Vixen' galley to General Furman at Monmouth. The vessel at Sandy Hook [New Jersey] sent three men in a small boat for a cask of water near Mr Stouts at the Highlands, and these men were made prisoners by a party of armed men. One has been liberated and claims he was beaten unmercifully, and has not heard of the other two.
