Full Description:
Alexander Thomson to Edmund Burke. Halfax, Nova Scotia. As Messrs. Harley and Drummond's contract for furnishing money for the use of the forces expired on the '17th ultimo' and no new arrangements have been notified, he thought the '4th Article' of the Paymaster-General's instruction to the Deputy Paymasters would apply in this case. Thinks he ought to draw bills on Burke and encloses correspondence on the subject. The occasion of the present discount upon bills and the necessity of remedying the same by sending out specie having been he is informed, fully explained to the Lords of the Treasury last winter. Thinks it unnecessary to trouble him with anything further and will make the exchange at which he negotiates conspicously on the face of his bills.
