Full Description:
His Majesty's most gracious speech to both Houses of Parliament, Wednesday 16 July 1783. With regard to the affairs of the East Indies. Expected to have had the satisfaction of acquainting that the terms of pacification were definitively settled but the complicated state of the business in discussion has unavoidably protracted the negotiation. He is though inclined to such conclusion as may secure the blessings of peace, so much and so equally to be desired by all parties. Thanks the House of Commons for the supplies they granted for public service and the discharge of the debt which remained on the civil list. To the Lords he recommends attention towards promoting the spirit of order, regularity and industry.
