Full Description:
Richard FitzPatrick to Carleton. War Office. Acknowledges previous letters and remarks on various promotions. Has sent Browne's memorial and the recommendation to the Commander-in-Chief. His Majesty approves the measures taken for sending home the British troops arrived from captivity. The accounts enclosed in Number 39 shall be transmitted to the respective Colonels and they shall be informed that they are to be accountable for the same. The House of Commons has extended the bounty of 1s a day to 200 more sergeants so that the regiments abroad may not be precluded, and he has permission to reserve 100 vacancies to be filled according to the recommendation of the Commander-in-Chief abroad. Of the three persons recommended for the King's letter, the first has been placed on the list. Drum-Majors cannot have the King's letter.
