Full Description:
Richard FitzPatrick to Carleton. War Office. Sends the report of the Board of General Officers to which refers to the question relative to the reduction of the Royal American Regiment. Of the regiment having reported their opinion that the eldest officers in each rank throughout the four battalions have a preferable claim to be continued upon the establishment and that the youngest, without regard to the particular battalion, expressed in the respective commissions should agreeable to the former precedent, be reduced in the present instance. Sends a copy of the report and acquaints that the same having been approved by the king, it is His Majesty's pleasure that you govern yourself hereby in the execution of the orders transmitted with his letter of 9 June.
