Full Description:
Brigadier-General Archibald McArthur to Carleton. St Augustine, Florida. Acknowledges receipt of previous letters and is glad his endeavours meet with approbation. Little has occured worth mentioning since his letter of the '5th instant'. The Indians who came down with the officers and traders were got rid of on easier terms than was expected and he hopes to be able to convince them that quitting their own country would be the greatest evil that could befall them. Has begun to issue provisions to the refugees, two ships with refugees sailed for England ten days ago, and the men who went to Providence have not returned. Lieutenant Wilson sets off for that island tomorrow, the Commissary sends a return of what will be wanting to complete the clothing for the Provincial regiments, and the sentence of the General Court Martial will be carried out on the '25th instant'.
