Full Description:
[Sir Guy Carleton] to Governor Archibald Campbell, Jamaica. New York. Proposed letter. Encloses the crimes and sentences of eight men, sent under the care of Major Ballmer, in hopes that an opportunity may arise to send them from Jamaica to the coast of Africa. If there is no vessel available he is to employ them in any corps he thinks fit. Five deserters who chose to be sent under the same terms rather than face the probable consequences of a general court martial are to be disposed of in the same manner. Corporal Dugald Fletcher and John Coote of the 42nd. Regiment, who accompany, are promised service in the West Indies.
