Full Description:
Michael Cuff to Major Frederick Mackenzie. Staten Island. Thanks for his letter of the '20th instant'. Has been so accustomed to unsuccessful applications that they by no means hurt though they much surprise him. Requests an explanation of Carleton's application to the General to place him again in the military line; considers himself as firmly established in his rank as any officer in the King's Army. As he intends to write to all his friends both in and out of the army about his present situation, will be obliged by the favour of an answer as soon as his leisure permits.
