Full Description:
David Thomas, Deputy Paymaster-General, to Carleton. New York. Informs him that several bills have been drawn on him from St Augustine for money for the use of the garrison troops there amounting to £5,000 sterling and as many bills will become due in a few days and no contractor here for him to take up the money as before for the public service. Asks for approval to continue to draw bills on the Paymaster-General in England for such sum or sums as may be necessary for the St Augustine garrison troops and to answer such bills as are now or may be drawn upon him for that service.
