Full Description:
John Sheerman to Carleton. Memorial. To recover three cows taken from him by Captain Valdervelt, of the Anspach Yagers. Complained to General Lossberg who referred him to the colonel of the regiment who passed it on to the Captain who refused to answer; the colonel referred him back to Lossberg who advised him to apply to Carleton for relief. He is a very poor man and the cows are his only means of support for a large family of children. Asks for such orders as will render him justice. Endorsed 'Lieutenant-Colonel Delancey will please write a letter to the officer under whose command Captain Vandervelt (or Waldenfeld) is, to examine into this complaint'. By order of Frederick Mackenzie.
