Full Description:
'Neil McNeil, or Neill McNeill, refugee, to Sir Guy Carleton'. New York. Memorial. For many years before the war he lived in Connecticut, was a successful merchant and had a valuable estate and property; relates his mistreatment, imprisonment on a charge of high treason, his losses and service in the Queen's Rangers &c.; is now obliged to seek government assistance. With certificate by Oliver De Lancey 5 August 1783. Referred to the Board of Refugees, 18 August and referred back to Carleton by Mr Shoemaker the same day as the claim is founded on actual services rendered and requires a supply beyond the allowance usually made for the support of distressed Loyalists
