Full Description:
Lovett Ashe, Captain 63rd Regiment, to Carleton. Memorial (no date). When a lieutenant in the 38th Regiment he commanded a troop of mounted light infantry; that at the request of Brigadier-General Abercromby sometime before the surrender at Yorktown [in October 1781] took up some appointments for the troop's use; that some now remain in his hands to the amount of about £35 sterling and not being able to dispose of them, as it would be very inconvenient to him to pay for them, asks that it may be taken into consideration.
