Full Description:
Laughlin McLean to Carleton. (No date). Petition. After 22 years service was discharged from the 40th Regiment, 24 October 1778, and ordered for garrison duty; having a small family requested his discharge so that he might provide for them, this Colonel Musgave granted. Has been working in New York ever since, now is worn out, has lost his family and wishes to return home. Prays for a discharge that will entitle him to Chelsea Hospital. Had previously approached Colonel Musgrave for a recommendation for Chelsea and was told he could not give another without Carleton's approval.
