Full Description:
Brook Watson, Commissary-General's Office, New York, to Major Mackenzie. States that a number of loyal Americans, around 1,000, are about to embark for Abbaco, one of the Bahama Islands, to settle there. He asks that Mackenzie lobby Carleton so that he may have clear instructions as to whether they should be victualled and furnished with the necessaries in a similar manner to those Loyalists gone to Nova Scotia. Should HIs Excellency approve of the scheme they will need a commissary-general officer to accompany the group and he would recommend Philip Dumaresque for employment as a clerk. He is employed as such in New York, has a large family, will soon lose his position and is almost destitute.
