Full Description:
Governor John Parr to Carleton. Halifax. Is glad that the Provincial Corps could be accommodated to their satisfaction on the River St John near its source, leaving the lower part to the refugees now settled there. Complains strongly of the unreasonable behaviour of Major Antill on the part of the seconded officers. Room has been made in the Orphan House for those sent by Carleton. Is concerned that some of the provincial troops were not set down on the eastern side of the St Croix or somewhere on Passamaquody Bay, the frontier of the province, to resemble the cantonments of an army agreeable to Carleton's letter of 26 April [1783]. Sends a proposed route to Quebec and does not doubt that it will be completed within a short time with post houses &c.
