Full Description:
Brigadier Timothy Ruggles to Carleton. Annapolis [Royal]. Was an Inspector of Woods for which he was paid until 25 March last. Has received no income from his estate since 10 August 1774 nor can expect to, the Provisional Articles notwithstanding and is reduced to penury. Asks for an allowance as others of his rank in life until he can get relief by application to the Treasury. Would not have troubled him but for economies adopted by the Treasury which have rendered him unable to make any improvements on a tract of land now or in the future unless he receives relief. Encloses an extract of a letter from Israel Maudit.
