Full Description:
Mrs Mary Barnes to Carleton. New York. Memorial. Is the widow of Major Barnes, 3rd battalion New Jersey Volunteers. Of necessity going to settle in Nova Scotia, has nothing for her support and that of her daughters beyond the allowance she receives as an officer's widow. Asks that the allowance be extended and advanced to her for the voyage and support during the ensuing winter on account of her age and infirmity. Also asks to be recommended to receive a grant of land on her arrival in Nova Scotia equal to her husband's rank and also transport, provisions &c as other Loyalists have received.
