Brook Watson to Major Mackenzie. Commissary-General's Office. That Carleton be informed that the great numbers of respectable Loyalist families claiming government assistance to move to Nova Scotia are in need of ships to transport them and these are not to be had unless Carleton authorises him to hire them on the usual terms and conditions, to be discharged in this country which will be less expensive than if they are hired by the Navy to be discharged in England according to their custom.
