Full Description:
E Brabazon, Major 22nd Regiment, to Captain Bibby, Deputy Adjutant-General. Staten Island. That the bearer William Beaumont has received only forty shillings sterling for taking up two deserters. The Commander-in-Chief approved of his getting five guineas exclusive of the regimental allowance. Beaumont was given a certificate to entitle him to payment at the office in New York. The regiment's fund will not at present allow of extraordinary sums being paid for deserters, Government having taken almost the whole of it and left the regiment in debt.
