Full Description:
Lieutenant-Colonel John Morris, New Jersey Volunteers, to Carleton. New York. Memorial. Is one of the seconded British Provincial officers and asks whether before making a return of himself and his family for embarkation to Nova Scotia, he might be given permission to go to Quebec and such allowances of conveyance and provisions as are allowed to officers in the same line. It is his intention on the disbandment of the British Provincial Corps to settle in Quebec and a government allowance of lands would be of service if he could obtain it there. Requests a recommendation to the governor of Quebec as he (Morris) has, for the reasons he has given to Carleton, particularly refused being concerned with the seconded officers in locating his lands in Nova Scotia. Should be glad to know how much land is to be allowed him by the government.
