Full Description:
Benjamin M Woolsey to Carleton. New York. Memorial. On his passage to Virginia under the command of Brigadier-General Arnold, lost at sea two valuable horses for which he has not received government allowance. Although his previous claims were paid, begs leave to add that officers of the 17th Dragoons and the British Legion in similar instances, who were paid £16 per horse lost. Asks for orders for payment. Noted on the reverse of the document that the account of officers losses are to be transmitted to the Secretary of War.
