Michael Grant to Carleton. Memorial. That he was in the hospital service at Mobile, West Florida for some years before this war commenced, where he had the sole care of that garrison whilst it was reduced by the Spaniards. He lost property of upwards of £3,000 sterling in horses, land, houses and cattle and has never received compensation from the government. As he now has no means of subsistence by his pay as hospital mate, begs that Carleton take into consideration his long services and grants him the appointment of Garrison Surgeon in the Island of Providence.
